Philip Eichelberger

President and Founder

Philip Eichelberger is president and founder of Systems Source Inc., a Dallas executive recruitment and staffing services firm specializing in insurance and technology professionals. The company, founded in 1994, has helped companies across the nation hire chief-level executives, directors, project managers, business architects and analysts, as well as technical experts adept in mainframe, enterprise and Web application development.

Eichelberger formed SSI after almost 15 years working at large systems integration, IT services and consulting firms, including EDS, Coopers & Lybrand, Price Waterhouse and IBM. His strengths were best used when working in an environment of urgent deadlines, entrepreneurial approaches and managing teams that could leverage emerging technologies for a client’s competitive advantage. Dubbed his own “potion in motion,” Eichelberger tapped these success factors to launch a new company in 1998 that intended to resolve the technical “end of the world,” then dubbed The Y2K Bug. With software and COBOL language pioneer Bob Bemer, Eichelberger formed BMR Software. The company produced a software utility that used “Window expansion” techniques that helped old mainframe software from locking up at midnight, the Year 2000. At this point, Eichelberger oversaw operations for SSI and BMR, and quickly recognized the growth potential of serving the staffing needs of large companies. In 2002, Eichelberger formed CureStaff, a staffing company focused on hiring physicians and allied health professionals. In the same year, Eichelberger documented his staffing approach—the processes, methodologies and lessons learned. These became the foundation for SSI’s success. By 2004, SSI had evolved from technical staffing expertise to complete executive search services, primarily among large, national insurance companies. SSI’s approach—and agility—in identifying and qualifying “unseen candidates” for the insurance industry has earned SSI a reputation for longstanding performance quality.

Prior to his career, Eichelberger earned his bachelor’s in business administration with minors in computer science and biology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He received his degree in 1980. Today, Eichelberger lives in Dallas, enjoys being father of a 16-year-old son, and doting owner of Max, a 75-pound Golden Retriever.
